Purple Pathway

Woodcote High School has designed specific pathways for its students at Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11): the PURPLE Pathway, the GREEN Pathway and the ORANGE Pathway. We ensure students take courses that are suitable for them and give them the best possible chance of success, of fulfilling their potential and achieving the best possible results.

On the Purple Pathway, two subjects from the EBacc list of subjects are to be chosen, this is to ensure a broad, balanced, and rich curriculum is studied. We know that for the vast majority of students in our community choosing two of these subjects is the most appropriate approach, as they appeal to universities, colleges, and employers and this is driven by evidence and research, which informs us of the positive impact it has on students’ opportunities in the future. By choosing EBacc subjects, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, which are highly valued by universities, colleges, and employers.

Studying this combination of subjects affords students with the opportunity to gain a competitive edge in an increasingly global job market while keeping their options open for a wide range of future careers and higher educational studies. This approach is based on clear evidence of the long-term benefits it provides, helping students achieve their full potential. Students will also have two further choices of option subjects to select from a wide range of courses on offer.

Spanish (GCSE)
