Literacy & Numeracy Catch Up

We provide a range of support for students who have been identified as being below the expected level for their stage based on their primary school SAT results and on their performance in a whole year group screening test at the start of each academic year.

What Actions Are Taken

Small groups of students get support that focuses on:

• improving spelling, punctuation, grammar, reading accuracy and reading comprehension
• improving numerical literacy

This support is offered through form time sessions, withdrawal from lessons and/or Saturday school sessions

Where necessary, students have additional support such as speech and language therapy sessions etc.

Pupils are assessed at the start of the intervention program and at the end of each term to measure the progress being made.
