Year 9 Options

Welcome to Year 9 Options
This is an exciting time as your child prepares to start their GCSEs in Year 10 this September. Key Stage 4 provides students with a wonderful opportunity to explore new disciplines and deepen their learning in familiar, core subjects. Choosing the right courses to study is essential, as these decisions will shape their future and influence their next steps after Key Stage 4. Remember, the right choice is different for each student – working with your child’s Tutor and Head of Year, along with discussions at home, will help ensure the best decisions are made.
We are excited to present our Key Stage 4 curriculum, designed to equip your child with the qualifications, knowledge, and skills for their next educational chapter. The next two years are crucial for shaping their future.
Our curriculum offer at WHS is a broad and balanced mix of academic and vocational subjects, allowing students to follow personalised pathways based on their interests and strengths, as well as ensure they’re fully prepared for the ever-changing world.
The following pages provide detailed information on the subjects available to your child. Your child has been placed on one of three pathways: Purple, Green, or Orange. Please select, from the links below, the pathway your child has been allocated in order to view the courses available to them. Please review them together, discussing the options that best suit their interests and aspirations.
To support this decision, students have participated in Form Time activities focused on exploring their strengths, skills, and career interests. These, alongside guidance from Tutors and the Head of Year, are valuable in helping students make informed choices.
We are excited about the wide range of courses and qualification pathways at Woodcote High School. Our curriculum offers the depth, flexibility, and opportunities to help every student reach their full potential.
