We came together as a school community on Monday 11th November 2024 to reflect on the profound and poignant moments shared during our Remembrance Service – a solemn occasion that stands as a testament to our collective commitment to honouring those who have made sacrifices for us.

Our students demonstrated a remarkable sense of dignity and respect as they actively participated in the Remembrance Service. A poignant moment of the day was when our Year 7 students were brought to the front of the school to join the rest of the community in observing the event.

In the lead-up to the event, we supported the Poppy Appeal, encouraging students and families to donate if possible. Poppies were sold throughout the week, with proceeds going to The Royal British Legion to support veterans and their families. We are pleased to announce that Woodcote raised an impressive £621.50!

A heartfelt thank you is extended to Mr Russell, whose tireless commitment and unwavering dedication played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our Remembrance Service. His thoughtful and thought-provoking assemblies set the tone for the entire commemorative event, providing our students with a deeper understanding of the significance behind Remembrance Day.

The Remembrance Service is more than just an event on our calendar; it is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals to secure the freedoms we enjoy today. It serves as an opportunity for our students to connect with history, to empathise with the stories of bravery and resilience, and to carry forward the lessons of remembrance and gratitude into their own lives.
