On Wednesday 6th November, our Year 7 students embarked on an exciting trip to Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter! The visit provided a unique opportunity for students to explore the artistry and creative processes behind one of the most beloved film and book series of all time.
The day’s focus was on the intricate artwork and design elements that brought the magical world of Harry Potter to life on screen. Students explored the role of the production designer, learning how the creative team tackled the script and transformed written words into visual masterpieces.
Through an engaging workshop by the Learning Team, students examined the journey from initial sketches and storyboards to detailed models, leading to the creation of the iconic final sets. They gained insight into how production designers use visual elements to reflect narrative and character, ensuring that every detail of a film set enhances the storytelling.
Highlights of the day included viewing the original sketches for key locations like Hogwarts and Hagrid’s Hut, exploring the famous Great Hall, the greenscreen broom ride experience, and discovering how props and set pieces were crafted to bring authenticity to the magical world.
A heartfelt thank you to Miss Chadenga for organising this trip and to the team who accompanied our students and ensured the day was a success.
