60 of our Year 10 students recently participated in the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge. It is a programme managed and delivered by Speakers Trust, the UK’s leading public speaking organisation and is supported and funded by the Jack Petchey Foundation.

In these workshops, students got to amplify their voices by building confidence, developing skills and having a platform to share their stories and ideas to empower not only themselves but each other. These skills equip students to champion effective, positive communication to use in education, employability, and social change.

Wilhemina and Shoshana excelled on the day of the workshops and went head-to-head with each other in the Assembly Final to decide who will proceed to represent WHS at the Regional Finals. The girls were an inspiration to their older years and did exceptionally well speaking in front of an older and unfamiliar crowd. The Sixth Formers voted, and Shoshana moved on to represent the school at the Croydon Regional Finals on the 27th of March 2025.

Shoshana stood her ground, spoke passionately about how technology is taking over our lives and the negative effect it has on us.

We are so proud of all the students who were selected to participate in this year’s Speak Out Challenge and hope they cherish the experience and memories.
