Our Geography Department took Year 12 to Juniper Hall in Dorking today, where they explored key concepts of the water and carbon cycles through hands-on investigations.
Year 12 focused on carbon levels in coppiced woodland, where they measured and assessed carbon storage, linking their findings to broader environmental issues.
They then moved on to an examination of how gradient impacts infiltration rates along a slope, with students collecting and analysing data to observe changes in water absorption. Following this, they investigated how different surfaces influence runoff, gaining valuable insights into hydrological processes.
A highlight of the trip was the trek up Lodge Hill, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape and the perfect opportunity for a detailed field sketch.
Thank you to Miss Taylor and Mrs Goddard for coordinating this trip.
