Last week, we welcomed Year 6 to Woodcote for a fun-filled and engaging Taster Day designed to give them a taste of secondary school life. The day was packed with exciting activities across a variety of subjects, and it was clear that our future students enjoyed every moment.
In English, students became detectives as they tackled a thrilling murder mystery inspired by the book, High-Rise Mystery by Sharna Jackson. Working together to solve clues, they got a taste of literature and critical thinking in action.
Meanwhile, in Science, Year 6 took part in a practical called ‘Exploring Colour Changes’ which was based around acids and alkalis. They learnt how to use a dropping pipette, follow stepwise instructions and how to avoid contaminating their samples.
The afternoon saw everyone enjoying the sunshine during team-building activities on the field. These were brilliantly led by our Year 10 Junior Sports Leaders, who guided the younger students through challenges that encouraged communication, collaboration, and lots of concentration!
We hope Year 6 left feeling excited and confident about starting their new journey at Woodcote in September. We can’t wait to welcome them back soon!
