On Thursday 19th September 2024, we hosted a fantastic Open Evening that welcomed prospective students and their families. It was wonderful to see everyone actively participating in our subject-based activities, providing a glimpse into the exciting curriculum we offer here!
In the Geography Department (@WHS_Geog_Dept), Year 6 students had a blast – literally – exploding volcanoes and testing their skills at building earthquake-proof structures using spaghetti. Meanwhile, over in the Science Department (@WHS_Science1), students were treated to fascinating hands-on experiences, including a rat dissection, microscope investigations, and exploring alkaline metals.
In PSHCE and Health & Social Care, families explored their health by testing peak flow measurements and got creative designing emoji’s to express how they’re feeling about transitioning to secondary school.
Over in the ICT Department, a thrilling drone competition kept both students and parents on the edge of their seats. Things got even spookier in the English Department (@EnglishWoodcote), where everyone enjoyed a night of eerie fun, complete with ghostly activities and a glimpse into the intriguing world of the English curriculum.
Overall, the evening was a real success, leaving our prospective students excited about the possibilities that await them here at WHS.
