DSM Foundation: Educating Young People on Drug and Alcohol Safety
On Wednesday 29th January, our Year 10 students had the opportunity to watch the powerful verbatim play, ‘I Love You, Mum – I Promise I Won’t Die’ performed by the brilliant Wizard Theatre. The production, commissioned by the The Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation (DSM) and written by award-winning playwright Mark Wheeller, tells the true story of 16-year-old Daniel Spargo-Mabbs, who tragically lost his life after taking a fatal dose of MDMA at an illegal rave in 2014.
The play, based on real testimonies, aims to raise awareness of the risks of drug use and equip young people with the knowledge to make safer choices. The DSM Foundation, founded by Dan’s parents after his passing, continues to work with schools, parents, and communities across the UK to provide vital education on substance misuse.
Through initiatives like this, the charity hopes to prevent further tragedies and empower young people to make informed decisions.
