Our House System
At Woodcote, our House System plays a central role in building community, celebrating success and promoting our core values. Every student and member of staff belongs to one of four Houses, working together to achieve success, demonstrate pride and contribute positively to school life.
During the 2025/2026 academic year, we consulted our wider school community to review our House System. As a result of that consultation, four new House names were selected. The House names were voted for by our students, who chose individuals they find inspirational through their demonstration of our school values.
Our four Houses are:

Attenborough
Named after David Attenborough, Attenborough House represents curiosity, respect and responsibility. Sir David Attenborough’s lifelong dedication to protecting our planet and educating others inspires our students to value the world around them and act with integrity.

Malala
Named after Malala Yousafzai, Malala House embodies courage, determination and equality. Malala’s commitment to education and her resilience in the face of adversity reflect our belief that every student’s voice matters and that everyone deserves the opportunity to succeed.

Nelson
Named after Nelson Mandela, Nelson House stands for leadership, perseverance and justice. Nelson Mandela’s legacy teaches us the importance of forgiveness, unity and standing up for what is right.

Parks
Named after Rosa Parks, Parks House symbolises bravery, dignity and positive change. Rosa Parks’ actions remind us that even small acts of courage can have a lasting impact on the world around us.
How the House System Works
The House System allows all of our students to participate in House celebration assemblies, competitions and events throughout the year, earning valuable points for their House.
House points are awarded in a variety of ways, including:
- Excellent attendance
- Positive behaviour and demonstrating school values
- Participation in extra-curricular activities
- Success in competitions
- Representation in sports teams, tournaments and school events
- Contribution to the wider school community
Through friendly competition and shared experiences, our House System fosters teamwork, belonging and school pride. It ensures that every student has the opportunity to contribute, be recognised and celebrate success as part of something bigger than themselves.
