Student Leadership

Developing Student Leadership within Woodcote High School is key, as when given the opportunity young people can have a profound impact on their schools.

Involvement in leadership activities can improve students’ learning as well as helping them to develop the skills and traits needed for success outside of the classroom.

Woodcote High School aims to increase the opportunity for Student Leadership across the school and to enhance the input students have with rewards, whole school events and student well-being. As students move through the leadership opportunities, an application and recruitment process is sometimes required. This builds on the personal development process enabling character traits of self-management and confidence.

Leadership Opportunities

School Council

At Woodcote High School we firmly believe that student voice has an imperative role with driving our ASPIRE values. Through the use of the student council we encourage students to engage directly in the wider improvement of the school and in particular in the improvement of their own learning experiences.

The school council is a body of students elected by their peers and provided students with the opportunities to develop and practice leadership skills in a supportive, learning and social environment.

The school council is made up of 2 representatives from each tutor group. The council meets termly to discuss matters about their education, school life, community and raise any concerns with their year group.

The information collated in the year group council meeting is then discussed within the senior management team with ‘you said, we did’ feedback provided.
