An Evening of Recognition and Celebration
Last night, our school community gathered for the annual Year 7-10 Praise and Awards Evening, an event dedicated to celebrating the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of our students. The ceremony was a testament to the diverse range of achievements attained by our students over the past academic year.
Executive Principal, Mr. Crofts opened the evening with a speech, emphasising the significance of such events in the school calendar. “Presentation events such as this provide a real opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and achievement of so many of our students,” he remarked. “Achievement comes in many forms and this evening celebrates and acknowledges the range and diversity of those individual accomplishments.”
Students were recognized in various categories, reflecting not only academic excellence but also achievements in sports, arts, and personal development. This inclusive approach highlights Woodcote’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel in multiple facets of their lives.
The evening was also an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication and passion of our school staff. “This celebration also provides an opportunity to say thank you to our staff who work so hard to ensure our young people are nurtured and encouraged to ‘be the best that they can be,’” Mr. Crofts said. The collective effort of the teachers, support staff, and administration plays a pivotal role in creating an environment where students can thrive.
Central to the awards evening were our ASPIRE values – Ambition, Self-Reliance, Perseverance, Inquisitiveness, Respect, and Enthusiasm. These core principles underpin our ethos and were prominently featured throughout the ceremony. Each award presented was a reflection of these values, demonstrating how they are integrated into daily school life and contribute to the personal growth of every student.
Among the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the ASPIRE Awards, which recognized students who have exemplified these values in exceptional ways. Whether it was through outstanding academic performance, acts of kindness, or demonstrating resilience in the face of challenges; these students embodied what it means to ASPIRE.
